| We believe in ongoing training for staff, close consultation with all referring agencies and professionals in the field (i.e., prosecutors, advocates, probation officers, lawyers, caseworkers, court staff, DSHS and DASA. All therapy staff confers with professional psychologists that we retain as clinical consultants. This we believe this helps the individual client get the best possible, current treatment. Nevertheless, if a client is unhappy with our services we will help them attain other services in the area that may be better suited to their needs. Alternatives is the one agency in the Thurston County, Olympia area to offer comprehensive, coordinated treatment for both domestic violence/anger management and substance abuse/dependency within the same agency and location. Alternatives addresses the linkage between family violence, chemical dependency/abuse, past unhealthy learning and children’s issues exacerbated by problematical parenting. Alternatives Professional Counseling, Inc. is a state certified, court approved domestic violence perpetrator treatment provider. What This Means for Referring Agencies All staff working within the Domestic Violence program is qualified under the guidelines set forth under the Washington Administrative Code 388.60. The Substance Abuse Programs, Domestic Violence Perpetrator Treatment Program, and the Parenting Therapy Program uses process as well as utilizing Moral Reconation Therapy or MRT ® learning modules, with certified staff. Further staff and program information is always available on request to referring agencies. Our front office staff shares the agency philosophy of all clients receiving the clinical treatment needed and if necessary, give referrals to the appropriate agency. Front office management has worked hard to make treatment accessible for many through the use of innovative payment plans and working with individuals who may not financially qualify for treatment elsewhere. Alternatives is accepting insurance, and is a participating provider for Several Health Plans. The experience of Alternatives personnel and the mission of the agency provides, referents with a high degree of accountability. Alternatives makes the extra effort to provide those individuals and agencies timely reports on client attendance, progress and accountability. Program staff is familiar with legal, treatment, and communication protocol demanded in a confidential treatment regimen. The staff is committed to provide information to the appropriate parties in “duty to warn situations”. |

Moral Reconation Therapy? MRT® is an objective, systematic treatment system designed to enhance ego, social, moral, and positive behavioral growth in a progressive, step by step fashion. MRT® has 12 to 16 steps, depending on the treatment population. MRT® focuses systematically on seven basic treatment issues: confrontation of beliefs, attitudes and behaviors, assessment of current relationships, reinforcement of positive behavior and habits, positive identity formation: enhancement of self-concept, decrease in hedonism and development of frustration tolerance, and development of higher stages of moral reasoning.
